FAIrPaCT 3rd Workshop: Shaping the Future of AI in Precision Medicine

On January 14-15, 2025, the FAIrPaCT Consortium successfully hosted its third workshop at the Science Congress Center in Munich, bringing together leading experts in artificial intelligence, data management, and precision medicine. The event featured a rich agenda of insightful talks, highlighting key advancements in federated AI, oncology research, and data-driven healthcare innovations.

The workshop opened with a welcome session by Max Reichert (MRI), followed by an update on FAIrPaCT 1.0 and its future prospects from Anne-Christin Hauschild (UMG). A deep dive into the FAIrPaCT framework, covering data management and federated algorithms, was led by Ulrich Sax, Nils Beyer, Maryam Moradpour, Tim Beißbarth, and A. Hauschild (UMG). In the afternoon, Hauschild returned to discuss the vision and opportunities for FAIrPaCT 2.0, setting the stage for the next phase of the initiative. Other standout sessions included Fabian Theis (Helmholtz Munich) presenting on Generative AI for learning cellular states and drug response, and Katja Steiger (TUM) sharing groundbreaking insights into spatial relationships in PDAC. The day concluded with impactful discussions on real-world data applications in oncology, led by Martin Boecker (MRI), and a thought-provoking talk by Benedikt Westphalen (LMU) on the role of AI in precision oncology.

The second day of the workshop focused on collaborative discussions, with participants engaging in break-out sessions to evaluate lessons learned and define future directions for FAIrPaCT 2.0. The event concluded with a strategic planning session led by the FAIrPaCT Consortium, followed by a farewell from Anne-Christin Hauschild and Max Reichert, and a campus tour led by Reichert.

This successful workshop reinforced FAIrPaCT’s commitment to advancing AI-driven healthcare solutions and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. With strong momentum, the consortium continues to drive innovation in biomedical research, paving the way for transformative breakthroughs in precision medicine.
